It is real life versus gaming life as IndyCar driver Graham Rahal takes on professional gamer Peter Jeakins [aka theSLAPtrain] in a so-called “mmixed reality” race as Honda promotes their 2018 Civic Type R in collaboration with Forza Motorsport.
R vs. R takes place on the Road Atlanta course with Jeakins turning in his virtual best time at Turn 10 Studios in Seattle and Rahal was in Atlanta on the actual course where he raced a real 2018 Civic Type R outfitted with a custom-made mixed-reality windshield that broadcast the gamer’s position on the track to Rahal in real time, allowing him to compete in a head-to-head race against Jeakins.
