The NASCAR Heat Series was last seen on the Playstation 2. It was popular among racing game fans, but was forced into early retirement after Electronic Arts purchased exclusive rights to the NASCAR brand in 2003. EA just kind of sat on the license, then threw it away six years later. Unfortunately six years is a long time in video game history, and the brand had lost a lot of its value as a result. But this could change soon.
Monster Games, the studio behind the original NASCAR Heat series, has the license for the next four years and is attempting a comeback. They’ve gathered half the original dev team to produce NASCAR Heat Evolution, and in this developer diary video, you’ll get to meet some of those guys. You’ll also get to see how the game looks in action (not bad!)
NASCAR Heat will return with Evolution September 13, 2016 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
