Overpass Releases Today For PC
Where can you play Overpass? Consoles or PC? Eventually, the answer will be both, but for now, NACON and Zordix Racing’s off-road vehicle racer is strictly a PC experience.
Overpass differs from traditional racers in that the goal isn’t to speed to the finish as fast as possible. In this game, that’s a surefire road to ruin, as the terrain is rough and full of car-flipping obstacles. You must select the right vehicle for each track (25 buggies and quads, licensed from popular brands) and shift and brake strategically to succeed. Modes in the game include Career, which takes you through a season of off-road races, Multiplayer, which supports up to eight players at once, Quick Race, and Local Play (a version of Multiplayer with split-screen).
There are two types of tracks in the game: Obstacle Courses and Hillclimbs. Both require careful driving and strategic use of the throttle and differential lock, but in different ways. Obstacle Courses are pre-planned routes that take longer to complete…the type of terrain, the model you’re driving and your own driving style will all factor in to your performance. In Hillclimbs, the distance to the finish is shorter, but they don’t hold your hand…you’ve got to plot your own path up the hill! Watch the terrain carefully for objects that could hinder your progress.
Overpass is available now for PC via the Epic Games Store, but how long will console gamers have to wait? Not too much longer…Overpass is coming to Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and XBox One on March 17.
