TrackMania Turbo Delayed Into 2016

Ubisoft’s TrackMania Turbo is an arcade-style, high-speed racer that, as the name implies, is all about the tracks. Don’t look for realistic graphics or simulation physics here — this is all about thrills, on as many corkscrewing, stunt-filled tracks as possible.

Unfortunately, it’s going to take a bit more work to put it all together, and Ubisoft admitted it on their blog this morning.

The Trackmania series has a strong community that’s at the heart of everything that we do. It’s through their comments and various playtests that we have received valuable feedback for Trackmania Turbo. We take that feedback very seriously and we’re committed to ensuring that our fans – both old and new – will always have the best experience possible. With that in mind, we have decided to move the release date of Trackmania Turbo to early 2016.

During the additional months, we plan to enhance the campaign and the game’s interface. Since multiplayer is such a strong component of the Trackmania experience, we also plan to continue improving Trackmania Turbo’s multiplayer modes. With updated multiplayer modes comes more multiplayer testing. The extra time will give us an opportunity to make sure that the online infrastructure is stable and that the online experience is a smooth one.

The French development studio also mentioned they were using the extra time to add a previously unplanned feature to the game, but they weren’t specific about what it was. They were also not specific about when in 2016 they expected TrackMania Turbo to be completed. Just know it’s still on the way, and presumably in a better state than it might’ve been beforehand.
