Take-Two Interactive Doing Just Fine
Despite releasing nothing in the latest financial quarter but DLC add-ons, GTA developer Rockstar and its parent company Take-Two Interactive posted a healthy profit this morning in their latest earnings report.
Grand Theft Auto V in all its forms moved an additional two million copies over the period, raising its total worldwide sales numbers to 54 million copies. NBA 2K15, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and WWE 2K15 were also high performers for the company. Revenue from digital content like DLC and expansion packs rose 139 percent during this period, bringing in sales of $254 million. “Recurrent consumer spending,” which is business-speak for things like DLC, rose 47 percent from last year and made up 36 percent of digital revenue, as well as 25 percent of overall net revenue.
The company posted an overall profit of $34.2 million for the quarter, which is very good, especially considering at this time last year, Take-Two posted a $11.2 million net loss.
