Rockstar Celebrates San Andreas Anniversary with New Xbox 360 Version, GTA Online Special Event
This month makes 10 years since Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas introduced us to CJ and the Grove Street crew and the biggest and most detailed open world game any of us had ever experienced. Rockstar Games is celebrating the anniversary with new products, a special event and some sales.
First up, the rumors are true. Rockstar has confirmed here is a new HD edition of San Andreas coming to Xbox 360. Rockstar confirmed an earlier leak saying the new version will have 720p visuals, improved draw distance and Achievements. The new version is a Games on Demand version that replaces the old Xbox Originals version on the Xbox Live on Oct. 26.
Users that had the old version can still download the old one, they won’t automatically be given access to the new version. Also, saves from the old version won’t work on the new one.
Rockstar is also holding a special San Andreas Anniversary Weekend today through Oct. 26 in GTA Online. The event will feature double RP and Double GTA$ for playing in a special San Andreas throwback jobs playlist, some exclusive shirts based on San Andreas radio stations, and some sales on clothing (hope you like green, gotta rep the Grove), BMX bikes and other items. More details here.
Finally, there’s a limited time sale on the mobile versions of San Andreas, GTA: Vice City, and GTA III on iOS, Android and Amazon. Purchase links here.
