Red Dead Redemption Finally Works On XBox One July 8
It’s been a long time coming, but finally, unbelievably, the single most demanded title in the XBox 360 library will finally work on XBox One. In three days Red Dead Redemption enters the backwards compatibility list — for good, this time.
Any version of the disc will work, says Microsoft. “Starting on Friday, every Red Dead Redemption Xbox 360 owner will be able to play the game directly on their Xbox One, regardless of which version of the game they own (Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare and Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition),” they said in the official statement.
Bizarrely, this game showed up fully functional on XBox One earlier this year, only to be yanked and erased like it was never there. Microsoft later said RDR was being tested in beta form and wasn’t quite ready for release yet. Someone hit the wrong button and made it briefly compatible.
If you don’t have an RDR disc, you can buy one digitally through the XBox Games Store the day its BC is activated. Red Dead Redemption becomes playable on XBox One July 8.
