Betraying Its Name, Need For Speed Decides To Wait A Year

on

Electronic Arts and developer Ghost Games spent a lot of effort over 2015 relaunching their Need for Speed brand. So where is it now? In storage, for the time being.

The reason is understandable, though….Ghost wishes not to rush the sequel. “We are now building upon the foundations that have been laid with Need for Speed and delivering our next game in 2017.” Fair enough. As ‘Moto said, “A delayed game is eventually good; a bad released game is bad forever.” Granted, he said this prior to the invention of console patch updates.

So what can we expect in 2016? Not much. A patch was released for the 2015 Need For Speed just last month — it added SpeedLists, a multiplayer feature. We’re told this is the final update Need For Speed 2015 will ever have. If you need a new racer this fall, EA aren’t going to be the guys to hook you up. But plenty of other companies will be putting out their own car games, and we’ll feed you all the news on those titles as they appear.
