Formula 1 New Balance Esports Series Begins Its Third Season
Last year the Formula 1 New Balance Esports Series attracted a record audience of 5.5 million viewers. How do they plan to top it for 2019?
One simple way is to make it bigger. The 2019 Formula 1 New Balance Esports Series will have a longer qualifying window, allowing for more entrants and, potentially, some undiscovered talent. The season will be splay into Qualifying, Pro Draft and the Pro Series, as they were last year, but each segment has been expanded. And at stake: double the cash reward from last year — a record $500,000!
The competition will be held using F1 2018 (all three versions, PS4, XBox One and PC). Those who pass the brutal selection process will pass on to the Pro Draft in July. The official F1 teams will be formed by whoever clocks the fastest time on both days of the event. Finally, those who prove themselves worthy will enter the Pro Series, competing in four live events between September and December of 2019.
The viewer has a chance at something good too — the chance to visit both the Pro Draft and the real-world Formula 1 Rolex British Grand Prix. Here’s how to enter: first register on www.f1esports.com, and then complete one attempt during the three online qualifying events hosted between April and May. It doesn’t matter how you do in that race; the winner will be chosen at random.
