Sony’s Driveclub Will Soon Have Raced its Last Track
Anyone remember Driveclub? It was Sony’s mid-tens attempt at a new racing franchise, with the assistance of developer Evolution Studios. It’s technically still available for the PS4 if you want it, but what will become of it?
Driveclub hasn’t had an update since March of 2016, when the last DLC pack was released alongside the news that Evolution Studios would be shuttered. Since then, it’s only been a matter of time until the game itself would follow the fate of the studio. Sony confirmed this week that, within a year, Driveclub will be wiped from the face of the Earth.
First the games and all the attached DLC will be delisted from the Playstation store. This happens on August 15, 2019, so if there’s any leftover DLC for Driveclub you’d like, you’d best nab it before you no longer can.
After this, the servers for Driveclub, Driveclub VR and Driveclub Bikes will simultaneously be shut off on March 31, 2020. Only the single-player modes will work, and that’s assuming you still have a copy.
So long, Driveclub. You could have been better, certainly, but you had your moments.
