Big Bang Racing Now Available For Phones

A new type of racing game is catching fire in Europe and may be headed to America before long (though nothing’s been announced yet). Big Bang Racing does a lot of things differently: its tracks take place on a 2D plane, and that’s not the half of it.

The hook behind Big Bang Racing is that EVERY SINGLE track was created by a player. It does save on development time, but it also makes the 2-D tracks incredibly unpredictable (until certain trends in user design become apparent — ask any Super Mario Maker player about this). Developer Traplight calls it a “social racer,” and if that’s a genre now, it makes sense to debut on phones first.

One wouldn’t compare Big Bang Racing to any sophisticated AAA racer with a precise physics engine and photorealistic graphics, unless they were complete fools. But mindless fun has its own appeal, and the thing IS free. Traplight announced today the app has registered over a million downloads, and it’s only been out for three days.

“The players have created over 100,000 amazing, high quality levels during these three days. We thank all the players who have contributed to building the Big Bang Racing world so far, and we are committed in developing the game further to make it the best possible racing and UGC experience for current and future players,” said Riku Rakkola, Traplight’s CEO.

Big Bang Racing is currently available in Europe for iOS and Android.
