The Crew, Ubisoft’s open-world racing game, was released nearly a year ago. It’s taken that long for the company to produce The Crew: Wild Run, the first expansion, but it was worth the wait: there’s a lot in it.
There are four new vehicle types now: dragsters, monster trucks, motorcycles and drift cars. Each type comes with its own advantages; for example monster trucks can perform backflips in the air and dragsters can achieve a higher top speed. Wild Run also introduces dynamic weather to the game, so if it’s raining, you’ll have to steer a little more carefully.
But the big attraction is The Summit, the expansion’s new mode. The Summit is an online competition that pits drivers against each other on a “wide range of skillsets and terrains.” Each Summit competition contains two Summit Qualifiers per week. If you can come out on top in one of these, you’ll be selected for the Monthly Summit Finale, with the chance of winning one of many new exclusive cars for Summit winners only.
This isn’t the end either — The Crew: Wild Run will get even more content over the next few months with regular updates that add new rewards, vehicles and features. Even if you don’t feel like paying for the expansion, you can still download a free patch that will upgrade the original game’s graphics. It’s all available starting today for PS4, XBox One and PC (sorry, XBox 360 players).
