Polyphony Digital, the developers of Sony’s photorealistic racing game series Gran Turismo, have updated their website with some new figures to brag about: it turns out if you added together every copy sold from every game that has borne the Gran Turismo name, you would get a number reaching over 76 million.
- Gran Turismo — 10.85 million
- Gran Turismo 2 — 9.37 million
- Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec — 14.89 million
- Gran Turismo Concept Series — 1.56 million
- Gran Turismo 4 Prologue — 1.4 million
- Gran Turismo 4 — 11.76 million
- Gran Turismo 5 Prologue — 5.35 million
- Gran Turismo PSP — 4.66 million
- Gran Turismo 5 — 11.94 million
- Gran Turismo 6 — 4.7 million
- Total — 76.49 million
76 million is a bigger number than the Halo series (which has sold 65 million to date) but far lower than the numbers for Mario, Pokemon, Need for Speed, Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, Lego, and FIFA, which have all joined the Greater Than 100 Million Club.
Polyphony’s next version of Gran Turismo was announced last September. It’s going to be called Gran Turismo Sport, it will include Playstation VR support, and it is currently scheduled to be out sometime next year.
