Sega’s Yakuza 5 Coming To North America At A Discount
Sega’s open-world crime-themed action series known as Yakuza (because it is about the Yakuza, you see) seemed doomed to a Japan-only existence for the foreseeable future after its parent company expressed future plans to significantly diminish console output. Fortunately, even though the interest in Yakuza is niche, and the new game is for a last-gen console, they changed their minds this time.
Sega is releasing an English version of Yakuza 5 in the Playstation Store, at a price lower than the game sold for in Japan — just forty dollars. But it can cost even less than that. If you preorder, you’ll be able to score the game for an outlandish $33.99. In addition, all those who preorder will receive a free Yakuza 5 PS3 menu theme, “Fulfiller of Dreams.”
Sega has taken the occasion of the preorder launch to upload a new “Developer Interview” video featuring YouTube Sony’s third-party manager Gio Corsi, Yakuza series director Toshihiro Nagoshi and producer Masayoshi Yokoyama. The video is embedded below. Yakuza 5 is currently scheduled for a US release on December 30, 2015.
