Sega’s Yakuza 5 Coming Out In America Mid-November
Good news for Yakuza fans: we now know when, exactly, we’ll be getting the translated English version of Yakuza 5 — a title once presumed to be lost outside Japan. Series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi says the reason we’re getting it is solely due to fan demand: that the decision to localize the game was the result of “so many requests from fans of the series.” So if you were one of those people, pat yourself on the back. And be prepared to beg some more: Sega has since announced a remastered version of the original Yakuza will be making its way to Playstation 4 AND a Yakuza 6 is also in development at this time, planned for release in Japan late 2016. Remember to use the magic word “please.”
But as for Yakuza 5: the game is coming out mid-November, digitally, on Playstation 3. Originally, Sega wanted to release it earlier, but “a few weird development bugs that popped up in localization” prevented that. There were apparently pieces of the Japanese text that weren’t switching over to English, a problem that has found a solution now.
Look for Yakuza 5 in about a month, and be sure to buy it so Sega can be convinced to put out more of them.
