On October 21, the Delorean comes to Rocket League. Not just any Delorean, THAT Delorean. Great Scott!
If you didn’t know by now, October 21, 2015 is the date in which Doc Brown and Marty McFly (and Jennifer Parker) traveled into the future in Back to the Future Part II. They discovered a future full of hologram movies, self-tying laces, hoverboards, and fax machines in every room. The BTTF trilogy is still as popular as ever, and there are going to be a lot of special events to celebrate this date in history — including this particular one in Rocket League.
Jeremy Dunham,, says that even before Rocket League came out, he and the dev team used to joke and fantasize about putting the Delorean in the game. “We were all such huge Back to the Future fans here at Psyonix, that it was one of the few ‘Holy Grails’ we had hoped for besides having a hit game. The fact that we’re getting both of those ‘best-case scenarios’ in the same year is an amazing accomplishment for us, they’re things we’ll never forget!”
Doc Brown’s time-traveling car will be downloadable for $1.99 on October 21 as part of the “Back to the Future Car Pack,” which implies there will be more cars from the movies in it. If there are, though, Psyonix isn’t telling us for certain.
