Forza Horizon 2

Next Forza Game Will Be Powered by “ForzaTech”

Yesterday, a trademark application appeared on the United States Patent and Trademark Office website for something called “ForzaTech.” The patent was filed by Microsoft.

Speculation ran rampant across gaming websites that it must be related to a new graphics engine for the Forza series, and today Microsoft confirmed that yes, that’s exactly it. ForzaTech is a fancy word for the proprietary graphics and simulation engine for Forza, which will be used by the game’s developer, Turn 10 Studios, in upcoming versions of the racer.

Microsoft has slapped tech-y trademarks on Forza-related products in the past. The AI program that powers rival cars in recent Forza titles bears the trademark “Drivatar.” The name of the free XBox app that delivers information and news about the series is called “Forza Hub.”

The next Forza game, Forza Motorsport 6, is due out for the 2015 holiday season. It is unknown if it will sport “ForzaTech” under its hood or not.
