At Microsoft’s press conference at today’s Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany, Microsoft showed off a new trailer that focuses on the social aspects of Forza Horizon 2.
The video promises that Forza Horizon 2 will be inherently social, and that players will be connected even when they aren’t playing multiplayer, says Senior Game Designer Jon Davis-Hunt in the video. Your friends will be there for you to interact with even when they’re not online, thanks to the Driveatar system that creates an AI that drives for them.
Forza Horizon 2 is intent on making it easy for players who aren’t used to playing online games to get in the action by removing lobbies and other established trappings of multiplayer, Davis-Hunt says.
According to the video there are two main online modes. Online Road Trip, which involves a tour of the world, where people in the session can vote on where the road trip goes next. Online Free Roam is a less focused mode where people in the session can drive wherever they want.
The video reveals that there will be clubs of up to 1,000 players in the game. There will also be car meets to show off livery designs and offer them for download.
Forza Horizon 2 is coming Sept. 30 for Xbox One and Xbox 360.
