Developer Milestone has spoken previously about a new training mode in MXGP Pro, but how much will they reveal today? Just about everything…how much is packed into what they’ve named The Compound?
The Compound is a forested environment comparable to 1 KM in real-world size. Two tracks are in the area, one for Supercross and one for Motocross, and both can be played in either Time Attack or competitive modes. The Compound will give all your skills a workout, with bumps, ridges, sharp turns and mud patches.
During development, Milestone enlisted official MXGP riders Tim Gajser, Tony Cairoli, and Gautier Paulin as consultants. Their input influenced the type of moves you can pull off in the game and their accuracy to the real world. Gasjer was able to perform a move he relies on (the “scrub”) with little issue.
“To perform a perfect scrub during a race, you need to keep leaning as much as possible, almost cutting through the air, maintaining a low trajectory,” he says. “This is the only way you can land earlier and gain some time. I tried the scrub feature in the game and I was impressed with the high quality and realism of the reproduction, it was really fun!”
Paulin was also impressed with the finished product: “The designers did an incredible job, I was surprised to see how the ground was totally identical to the real thing, as well as the bike’s reactions on different tracks, wet or dry; like when the bike loses speed when going up a hill and it goes faster when you come down.”
