More Yakuza Coming From Sega
No sooner does America finally get a greenlight for their own translation of Yakuza 5, the latest (’til now) title in Sega’s Japanese crime syndicate simulator, than Sega dumps a ton of new content we’ll have to beg for. So the cycle continues.
Sega announced today at Tokyo Game Show that they’ll be remastering and revamping the original Yakuza, which originally debuted on the Playstation 2, for a widescreen HD PS4 release. That game came out ten years ago, and modern technology will allow series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi to add elements of gameplay he wanted in the original but couldn’t achieve on the PS2 hardware. Japanese gamers will be getting this new version of Yakuza, titled Ryu Ga Gotoku Kiwami, on January 21, 2016.
Ah, but there’s more. There is also a Yakuza 6 on the way. Sega did not reveal anything beyond its title, but they promised they were hard at work on it, and it was being targeted for a a fall 2016 release date.
As for whether either of these will make it Stateside….shrug. Like I said, better start begging.
