Microsoft has announced that they are acquiring Activision Blizzard in a $68.7 billion all-cash transaction vaulting Microsoft to third place [by revenue] among worldwide video companies – behind Tencent and Sony.
Activision Blizzard’s various divisions are responsible for popular video game franchises such as Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot and Candy Crush, in addition to eSports [Major League Gaming]. The Santa Monica-based company touts nearly three billion active game players in the world.
