A GTA Movie is In The Works Starring Harry Potter
The BBC is pushing an initiative called “Make It Digital,” which they describe as a “major UK-wide initiative to inspire a new generation to get creative with coding, programming, and digital technology.” As one of the methods they’re employing to stir up interest in the game business, they are producing a movie about the making of Grand Theft Auto, and the lead actor they’re eyeing? Mister Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe.
The Hollywood Reporter says Radcliffe is in talks right now to take on the role of Sam Houser, the co-founder and president of Rockstar Games. This proposed movie would be a dramatization of Rockstar’s rise to video game stardom through the GTA series and their entanglements along the way with anti-videogame crusader Jack Thompson (remember that guy?) Thompson has not been cast yet. I would suggest whoever played Voldemort.
The Rockstar movie, once called Rockstar Games but now titled Grand Theft Auto, is based on the biography Jacked: The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto by David Kushner, and is scheduled to begin shooting on April 20. A script has been written by James Wood, and the movie will be directed by Owen Harris, produced by Jim Spencer and overlorded by executive-producer by Mark Hedgecoe.
Radcliffe’s next role is in a Frankenstein movie to be released this October.
