The first trailer has dropped for the feature film version of director Neill Blomkamp’s “Gran Turismo” adapted from the popular PlayStation video game racing simulation franchise createdin 1997 by Polyphony Digital and Kazunori Yamauchi.
Blomkamp [“District 9” and “Elysium”] directs the sports racing film based on the true story of British teenager Jann Mardenborough who enters the “Gran Turismo” Academy and gradually takes his controller skills onto a real racetrack with hopes to become a professional race car driver.
Archie Madekwe plays Mardenborough, David Harbour plays his racing trainer, Djimon Hounsou is Mardenborough’s father, Orlando Bloom is a motorsport marketing executive and Darren Barnet is a fellow GT Academy rival driver.
“Gran Turismo” is currently scheduled to be released in August 2023.
