If you’re one of the people who has a Playstation Plus subscription for your PS4 and you never downloaded the free version of Sony’s racer Driveclub, you have one last week to do so. Sony is removing the free version from the Playstation Store on October 6, the company announced today.
As for the reason why, Sony was tight-lipped, but to hazard a guess, I’d say they viewed that version as not unlike a demo, and demos rarely stay up past the point the game they’re advertising is no longer new. People asked the development studio behind the game, Evolution Studios, for answers instead — but they only know what they’re told from Sony, and Sony told them nothing either. Paul Rustchynsky, director of Driveclub, answered questions on Twitter with “I don’t know, we’re not involved in what is featured on PS+.”
If you’ve got a Playstation Plus subscription, you don’t own the full version of Driveclub, and you’re still interested in the free version (might as well, it’s free), you don’t even have to turn on your PS4 to claim it as yours — just follow this link and sign in with your PSPlus account.
The bigger, payment-required version of Driveclub has now sold over two million copies. Evolution Studios says it has “major plans” for the game in the coming year.
