Forza 6: Apex, the version of Forza 6 formulated for Windows 10, is about to launch its open beta. Microsoft and developer Turn 10 Studios announced today players will be able to try out Apex in order “to improve the game’s performance across a diverse selection of hardware setups.” As the beta runs on, various features will be added and tested, including including wheel support, the ability to disable VSync and an in-app framerate counter.
To keep you up to speed, this is not the Forza 6 that you’re familiar with on XBox One. It’s going to be a free-to-play, stripped-down version without the ability to race online or design your own livery. Its main purpose (we suspect) is to get new gamers interested in the Forza series proper. But it still needs to be tested like any other racer.
What it WILL have is better graphics than the XBox One, go figure. Since this is the PC, Forza 6: Apex will support 4K resolution and use Microsoft’s DirectX 12 technology. It is yet unknown when the beta ends and the final game makes its debut. But it’ll be free!
