Take a look at Fast Racing Neo, the new game from German developer Shin’en Multimedia that is coming to the Wii U. Does it look somewhat familiar?
It has been a long time since Nintendo released a new chapter in their hyperfast, superhard futuristic racer — the brand has not been seen active since 2003. Last January Nintendo’s legendary producer Shigeru Miyamoto said that he found making a new entry to the series to be too difficult. “If we create a new type of controller interface, and we find a controller interface that’s particularly suited for F-Zero, then maybe we’ll do something with it in the future,” he said. Given the amount of controllers that already exist, and the number of features they have, I have no idea what is lacking out there to make a new F-Zero impossible.
Third parties to the rescue! Shin’en Multimedia already released a previous F-Zero knockoff on the original Wii back in 2011 entitled Fast Racing League. Now their follow-up for Wii U aims to tide hungry F-Zero fans over, at least until some kind of new controller shows up.
The developer has released a Twitter statement suggesting we will see more of Fast Racing Neo, and be privy to more details about it, at E3 in a few days.
