E3 Will Not Be Held In Person In 2022

on

For the third year in a row, the Electronic Entertainment Expo [aka E3] will not be a in-person event in June in Los Angeles as organizers [Entertainment Software Association – ESA] have cancelled that due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

E3 was established in 1995 and was the showcase hub of the video gaming industry announcements and project developments but it may be three strikes and out as video gaming companies are beginning to shy away from large in-person events in favor of digital announcements or gatherings.

Last year E3 was held digitally with Nintendo, Xbox, Konami and Ubisoft taking part and fans had access to online showcases, trailers and preview material but ESA has yet to make an announcement if they will be hosting a digital event again this year.

The cancellation of this year’s in-person event comes much earlier in the year than the similar decisions made in 2020 and 2021.
