on

After taking 2016 off, EA’s Need For Speed series is back and ready to tear up asphalt. Need For Speed: Payback is the creation of developer Ghost Games, who has now brought us three NFS titles.

Payback will have a story mode consisting of high-speed heist missions, which the E3 trailer focuses on. As was explained onstage before the trailer played, “The crew (Tyler, Jess and Mac) have learned that The House are transporting a car equipped with a new piece of technology that may be a key component in bringing them down. This calls for one thing: acquire the car, get hold of the tech and dent The House’s plans.” The tasks involved in accomplishing this mission change in real time. At one point the passenger (Jess) gets out of the car and actually climbs onto the truck itself, followed by….you’ll just have to watch and see. If it all reminds you of a Fast and the Furious movie, that’s likely intentional.

Tyler, Jess and Mac will all be playable and the game will utilize new features such as the Relic system, which will let you upgrade your vehicle as you’re driving it (a necessity to complete wild missions like this). Need For Speed: Payback launches November 10, 2017 for Playstation 4, XBox One and PC. Those who are attending E3 will get to play a demo at the EA Play showcase.
