Fourth Season of eSports WRC Begins January 24
Now that WRC 7 is out, will there be a competition centered around it, as there has been with its predecessors? When will the fourth season of eSports WRC begin?
Bigben Interactive and Kylotonn announced today Season 4 of eSports WRC will commence later this month. The official title is “eSports WRC Powered by Hyundai,” but you’ll forgive us if we snip the corporate sponsor from the title, I’m sure.
This year the opening rounds of eSports WRC will be timed alongside the opening round of the 2019 FIA World Rally Championship; both will be held in Monte Carlo on January 24th. This will be followed by a Valentine’s day match from Sweden, and from there the competition travels around the world. Last year over 6,000 players competed for the top prize. This year’s winner will receive a Hyundai i20 valued at 20,000 Euros.
eSports WRC Powered by Hyundai is a competition open to everyone who owns a copy of WRC 7 on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC. Points will be awarded at 12 online rounds between January and August. The 10 best results will then be used to select the best eight players for a live grand finale.
Like last year, a teams championship will also take place. Pre-selected teams, comprising up to 5 players, will face off simultaneously in the individual championships in an attempt to come away with the second teams world championship title. At each rally, the points scored by the 3 best drivers in the team will be added to the team’s score. The championship will mainly be made up of teams known throughout the world of eSports racing games.
