GTA Online Adds Football Game “Running Back,” But There’s A Twist
Today Rockstar Games announced a new adversary mode for GTA Online, effective immediately. Called “Running Back,” it is very much inspired by football (American football, that is), but there’s one interesting twist: The game must be played with cars. Taking a page from Rocket League, are we, Rockstar?
Here’s how it’s played: “Two teams (a total of 4-8 players) square off from opposing sides of a roadway. The elusive Runner, behind the wheel of a Benefactor Panto, must go the distance and get across the end zone line at the far end of the highway with the help of their offensive teammates in BF Biftas. Meanwhile, their defensive-minded opponents (also in Biftas) must ruthlessly block, crash and pummel their way to try to stop them.”
When you’re driving around in GTA Online, look for Running Back in three locations of Los Santos: Ranton Canyon Bridge, La Mesa Bridge, and Zancudo Tunnel. It’s a permanent addition, meaning you can play it even when football season is over. Just remember you will need a current-gen system like the PS4 or XBox One to do so, as with all GTA V updates from last September onward.
