Gran Turismo Sells Ridiculously — 76.8 Million Worldwide
Sony’s signature racing series hit another major milestone today. Polyphony Digital, longtime developers of the photorealistic racing sim series, announced on their website that Gran Turismo 6, the last major title to be released, has now cleared over 6 million copies. In addition, if you added up the numbers generated by the series overall, it’s moved over 76.8 million copies!
- Gran Turismo — 10.85 million
- Gran Turismo 2 — 9.37 million
- Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec — 14.89 million
- Gran Turismo Concept Series — 1.56 million
- Gran Turismo 4 Prologue — 1.4 million
- Gran Turismo 4 — 11.76 million
- Gran Turismo 5 Prologue — 5.35 million
- Gran Turismo PSP — 4.65 million
- Gran Turismo 5 — 11.95 million
- Gran Turismo 6 — 5.01 million
- Total: 76.79 million
These figures were last updated June 30, and before that, March 31. Between that time, an additional 50,000 copies of GT6 were sold. Not bad for a game that was released over three years ago.
Polyphony’s next GT game is Gran Turismo Sport, to be released this November. Following that, we’ll eventually see Gran Turismo 7, though not for a while yet.
