Google Maps Celebrates Mario Day [March 10]

Google is doing their part to celebrate Mario Day [March 10] by having their Maps app offer turn-by-turn driving directions with a miniature version of the famous Mario the plumber from Mario Kart – but, alas, only for one week.

Beginning today, Google Maps is allowing you to replace the usual location icon in Maps on smartphone apps with an image of Mario riding a go kart. To make this change, first update the Maps app and request driving directions – a yellow question mark block to the left of the regular Start button should appear – hit that and you will now be driving in style with Mario.
