Disney XD To Air Mario Kart Competition

There are signs that children’s channels are beginning to dabble in the growing world of eSports. Last month, Disney XD (it’s like the Disney Channel except with cartoons) rebroadcast the Nintendo World Championships from E3 as an experiment, and it apparently paid off, because they’re producing an original special this time.

Clash of Karts: Mario Kart 8 is a one-hour special that will air later this week. It’s not hard to guess which game the contestants will be competing with. Eight prepubescent humans who consider themselves skilled at the game will face off against eight prepubescent stars you’ve never heard of (I guarantee you haven’t — they’re from YouTube). The winner will be declared Mario Kart Champion and receive……we have no idea what they’ll receive, but they’ll get bragging rights at least. “I faced off against famous Let’s Player SparkleHappyZowie54588 and WON!”

Clash of Karts: Mario Kart 8 airs December 5 at 8 PM Eastern on Disney XD. You don’t have to watch if you don’t want to. (But then how will you be cool?)
